Psychological meaning of MANNAZ: The Self
The ancient Germanic meaning of self points to the human being. This rune therefore stands for the human being as such. This is also indicated by the Old English meaning of "man". Mannaz always occupies a central position within the individual runic systems. It can be assumed that within the Germanic world view it also symbolised man in contrast to the gods.
